7 Day Writing Prompt Challenge: Prompt #5 Dialogue

Two more days to go! Can't believe it's come already. I'm not entirely thrilled about this one, seems a little too simple, but maybe you all will enjoy it.

Red

“It’s red.”
“It’s cranberry red.”
“Just plain red. I mean isn’t there only one kind of red?”
“No, there are different shades of red.”
They stared at each other. Challenging the other to say something opposite. The candle was actually neither cranberry red or plain red. It was actually a deep red with brown undertones making it seem like cranberry red, when in fact it was not.
“Fine, smell it.”
“Smell it. And what is that going to prove?”
“Maybe once we smell it, we can know for sure what color it actually is.”
He picked up the candle and sniffed. “It smells like berries.”
“Then I guess that makes it cranberry red.” She gave him a smile of victory before picking up her water glass and taking a sip.
