This isn't a travel blog, but a blog filled with the thoughts and musings of a TCK (Third Culture Kid)/wannabe writer.

About Mom
It's American Mother's Day! Yay! Every year I always get Mother's Day mixed up; since I live in Thailand, we celebrate the Thai Mother's Day (which is on the day of the Queen's Birthday) so Mother's Day is always a confusing day for me. But since I feel the festive mood of Mother's Day I wanted to write a post for American Mother's Day.
My mom has been part of my life my entire life (well duh!). What I mean by that, is that she's always been there for me. Even when I went through problems she didn't really understand she tried to understand and was there for me. She was there to kick me out of the house when I complained about being 'alone', she was there to yell at me when I needed a good lecture and to tell me when I was being a dramatic, stupid teenager, and she was there to let me cry when I needed to cry. She was there. Sure, we get into some bad fights, mostly because we are both incredibly stubborn and refuse to talk to one another when we're mad, but we're best friends again. My mom went through the intense pain giving birth to my brothers and I, and went through the intense pain of raising my sister (still love you sis!). But even though my sister, my brothers, and I were probably incredibly annoying and needy, she was there to take care of us. Make us our lunch, teach us how to make our own lunches, clean after us (for many, many years), and she's really done so much for us! I almost feel kind of bad for leaving (almost). My parents raised us then once we turn eighteen we leave. It's kind of depressing. But my parents always told me and my siblings that if we turned out at least okay, that was enough for them.
My mom taught me how to be a better woman. Modern day feminists tell young woman like myself, that you should be independent, you shouldn't be stuck to the kitchen. They almost tell us that it's shameful to be a housewife. My mom has been a housewife for almost her entire career as a mother, of course she's worked before, but my mom has always been a housewife. She wasn't forced to do it, she's a housewife because she wants to be. She is one of the most independent women I know. She taught me that you can be a free, independent woman and yet still be a good mother and wife.
So in short my mom is pretty much the awesomest woman on the planet! We don't always see eye to eye, we disagree on a lot of things, but she encourages me to work harder and try to be a better person.
So Happy Mother's Day Mom! And I really do love you... really.
